Where did this come from?
Recently, I have been seeing people refer to the characters they create as 'toons.' Where did this come from? I've played more than a few MMOs in my day (including some MUDs
 ), and I have never heard this before. I have heard everything from character/char/ to crit to alt to avatar/av, but never toon. Is this something out of Disney's Toon Town or something?

I dont know where it has come from buy i have been seeing it alot too. This is an interesting observation though. Too many people are watching cartoons is my guess.

Maybe a bleed over of City of Heroes? It's based on something out of comic books, so maybe? I was confused when I first heard the term crit in MUDs... I think I'll start using that and see if it chatches on.

That would be a pretty safe guess. Probably the most logical one if you look at it. Considering their is no Cartoon for GW, it is probably just a carry over from CoH and CoV.

Honestly, I've heard of people's characters being called "toons" for quite some time now. No idea where it came from, but it was definately before that Toon Town game was made, and definately before CoH and CoV. I used to hear it a lot in Anarchy Online when I played that years ago. I don't hear it nearly as often in GW as I did in AO, though.

Didn't realize it was that old. A friend of mine thought it came from WOW cuz the characters looked so cartoony.
